Janetta met John “Ed” Van Doren on a blind date setup by her cousin Wanda Williams, and Wanda’s boyfriend Raymond Erdman in Valley WA. She used to say: “When I met my date he was wearing a blue shirt that matched his big blue eyes”. Both Janetta and Wanda eventually ended up marrying their dates.
Janetta met Carl Rude while visiting her mother Myrene Mindermann at the Courtyard Assisted living in Colfax WA. When Mom visited Carl while he was in the hospital for a procedure, the Nurse asked “Is this your wife?” and Carl said… “I’m working on it!” Janetta and Carl always loved to dance.
In her younger years she worked at New York Life and kept lifelong friendships with her boss and coworkers. She continued meeting several of them for lunches for many years later.
Later on she worked at the Valley School as the cook, feeding generations of kids with love. She spent many years volunteering at numerous church and grange functions. She always said she loved older people and spent many years bringing the Eucharist to the homebound.
