In my previous letter I called upon all of us in the Chewelah School District to examine ourselves in regard to support for our community and our schools. It was not my intention to make a blanket accusation against all teachers, but that is how it has been received and for that I apologize to the teachers I offended, and I ask for their forgiveness. I appreciate the teachers in Chewelah that have been supporting our community with not only their involvement in our kid’s lives, but likewise with the dollars they spend supporting local businesses. I hope they will continue in both.
It was very much my intention to suggest that ALL OF US look in the mirror, and answer the question personally: Have I done everything I can to support my community and the people who work in it? Have I invested locally so that local families are enabled to invest in the education of our children? If we do the same thing we’ve always done, we will get the same results we’ve always got. I firmly believe we can do BETTER, and I resolve to do more myself.
