
Marilyn Ruth Plotts, age 75, a longtime resident of Chewelah, WA, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2021 at her home in Meridian, Idaho. Marilyn was born on July 22, 1945 in Lewiston, ID, the daughter of Leo Leslie and Ruth Irene (Damron) Lincoln.
Marilyn was a 1963 graduate of Jenkins High School in Chewelah, WA. On February 15, 1964, Marilyn married Gary Manning Plotts in Chewelah. They built a home in Puyallup, WA where she worked for the phone company; and they resided there until 1967 before relocating back to Chewelah. Shortly after returning to Chewelah, Gary and Marilyn purchased a farm and began farming which included a wide variety of animals which was Marilyn’s favorite part of farming. Marilyn loved being a wife, a stay-at-home mom to her children and grandchildren and being around friends and family. Marilyn was also known for always being a help to others and caring for many, her canning skills, crafts and ceramics, sewing and her work ventures. Gary and Marilyn were married for 53 years before Gary’s passing in 2017.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband Gary M. Plotts and son-in-law Paul Hinton and is survived by daughters, Tammy Hinton, of Kettle Falls, WA, Leone Rusher and her husband, Don, of Meridian, ID, Leanne Plotts of Chewelah, WA; her sister Evelyn Steuber and her husband Bill of Chewelah, WA; 7 grandchildren, Mandy, Craig, Miranda, Marissa, Derick, Emma and Lacie; 3 great grandchildren, Gabriel, Kemper and Ellee; nephews, Don and Brad and a host of cousins and extended family.
A graveside service for Marilyn Ruth Plotts will be held on Friday, March 26, 2021 beginning at 11 a.m. at the Chewelah Memorial Park Cemetery in Chewelah, WA. Pastor Dan Work will officiate.
