(PRESS RELEASE/49 Degrees North)
Are you ready to dig out your Hawaiian shirt, have a great time and support a good cause? Then make plans to come up to 49 Degrees North on Saturday, March 23. The 49 Degrees North Volunteer Ski Patrol is hosting their annual fundraiser, offering fun activities, events and prizes throughout the day. Registration for the Poker Ski opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 10:45 a.m.; cards will be drawn at four stations along Silver Ridge from 11 to noon. Costumed customers can sign up for competition in age categories from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with judges choosing winners in the afternoon. And then there’s the very popular SLUSH CUP. Competitors can sign up in the lodge until 12:30 p.m.; cost is $10/run and attempts to cross the pond begin at 1:30 p.m. Warning: Be prepared to get wet if you are standing around the pond edges.
Of course, burgers and beer will be served with a smile by your ski patrol hosts on the deck all afternoon. NEW THIS YEAR — Dry Fly from Spokane will also be serving on the deck, with proceeds donated to the patrol.
The very popular raffle starts at 3:30 p.m. and goes until all the prizes are gone. This year there are over 50 prizes, including 49 Degrees North passes and many gift baskets and gift cards from Chewelah, Colville and Spokane businesses. Tickets can be purchased from any patroller and in the lodge. Need not be present to win. All proceeds go directly to the patrol for first aid equipment and training. So hula on up to the mountain on Saturday and lei on your sense of fun!
