It was a great day for fishing on a Waitts Lake dock on Thursday, June 21 as five Gess Elementary students caught perch, small mouth bass, and a sunfish or two. The most improved readers in each grade level at Gess were awarded a fishing pole and fishing trip with the principal, Jerry Pugh. Chris Carpenter hosts the event and this year the weather cooperated! Every student caught at least one fish, although the sly red-eyed tench eluded the anglers. There’s always next year!
