Selkirk surges late against Lions…
Selkirk pulled away late to hand Hunters a 42-18 NE 1B football league defeat on Friday. The Rangers scored 22 unanswered points in the fourth quarter in what had been a solid game for three quarters. Hunters trailed by just 20-18 in the third before things began to unravel because of injuries.
Hunter’s Daniel Wines scored two touchdowns while quarterback Riley McLain notched another touchdown run for the Lions. Hunters fell to 3-2 on the year and will host Northport this Friday at 3 p.m. Selkirk improved to 4-1.
2B: ASOTIN 51, SPRINGDALE 8
The Chargers fell to 1-4 on the season with a 51-8 loss to Asotin last Friday. It was their second straight loss since defeating Kettle Falls 14-0 on Sept. 15. They’ll play at winless Wilbur-Creston on Friday at 7 p.m.
FREEMAN 19, LAKESIDE 7
The Scotties remained undefeated in NEA League play while also handing Lakeside it’s first league loss of the year with a 19-7 Freeman win last Friday. Scotties quarterback Desmond Parisotto threw two touchdowns and had another on the ground in the victory. Freeman improved to 4-1 while Lakeside is now 3-1.
COLVILLE 28, NEWPORT 14
Ranked No. 6 in the state AP poll, Colville looked dominant through three quarters in a 28-14 victory over previously undefeated Newport last Friday. Colville improved to 3-0 in league and 4-1 overall as back Grant Michaliszyn rushed for 74 yards and two touchdowns for the Indians. The Spokesman-Review reported Newport actually outgained Colville 208 to 204 yards in offense but couldn’t get in the endzone until late.
2B: REARDAN 33, KETTLE FALLS 6
Reardan jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and cruised to a 33-6 victory in NE 2B football action. Kettle Falls fell to 0-5 on the year but got a 2-yard touchdown run by Marcello Mendez.
RIVERSIDE 15, MEDICAL LK. 6
The Cardinals led 6-0 in the first quarter but Riverside scored the last 15 points in a 15-6 NEA League victory. Riverside improved to 3-2 on the year and 1-2 in league play. Medical Lake scored on a 40-yard interception return in the game, but Riverside then got a safety, an 18-yard touchdown run by Ryon Hrezo and a 10-yard touchdown run by Michael Zanoni. Medical Lake fell to 0-5.
