The recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling on the Health Care Act (Obamacare) was essentially saying they did not want to rule on this and they wanted to send it back to the people for a vote. Chief Roberts said the Supreme Court was hesitant in overturning legislation from the House of Representatives or the will of the people, so he upheld the Health Care Act calling it a “tax.”
I don’t care what you call it, it means the people of this great country will have to pay more money one way or the other.
Chief Roberts knows there is a Presidential election this year so he thinks the people will have an opportunity to repeal Obamacare. This sounds good, however, there are two faults in his reasoning. First, the people of this country are sick and tired of politicians and the government so there is a very good chance there will be a lower than normal voter turn out rate which will not accurately reflect the true feelings of the American people. Second, we pay the Supreme Court to make good decisions related to the constitutionality of a case. We don’t pay them to pretend to be brilliant and avoid the tough decisions.
We needed the Supreme Court to do their job and make a constitutional decision. Instead, we are all faced with going to the polls and deciding ourselves instead of depending on the ruling of the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court avoided the issue with a “tax” decision, so it’s up to us. Whether you are Democrat, Republican, Independent, or Other, please vote in this year’s election.
