Three injured in Sunday morning accident…
A three-vehicle accident on Sunday morning near Clayton on Highway 395 caused three injuries and shut down the highway for five hours. According to a report by the Washington State Patrol, a 2004 silver Saturn Vue with 24-year-old Spokane man Shawn Thomas driving was headed southbound and struck a northbound 1996 Honda Civic head on.
The Civic was driven by a 41-year old Deer Park man, Shane Yeager and his 39-year old wife Crystal. A gray Mercedes Benz 300 was behind the Civic heading northbound and could not stop in time.
The driver in the Mercedez Benz, along with the passenger and two minors were not injured in the accident. The driver of the Saturn was transported to Deaconess Medical Center, while the two occupants in the Civic were transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center. According to Stevens County Fire District 1, two helicopters were requested to the scene as there were two critical patients and one non-critical patient.
The Washington State Patrol said the cause of the accident may have been from driving under the influence and charges of vehicular assault are pending.
