Gary McNiel, President of the Senior Board of Directors, is encouraging the community to rent the Senior Center Hall at a very reasonable rate.
The cost for an entire day is only $20 plus $10 more to use the fully equipped kitchen.
You do not have to be a member of the Senior Club to rent the hall, which is air-conditioned and has enough tables and chairs to accommodate up to 90 people.
Additionally, there is a 42 inch television available for use for movies, games, or presentations.
There is also a Blu-Ray player, Wii game console, and wireless Internet.
The Friends of the Chewelah Public Library have donated books available at the senior hall as well.
McNiel states that the Senior Hall is a good alternative to those who would like to use the facilities for an hour or for the entire day.
The Senior Center is located at 302 East Main Avenue and is adjoined to the Chewelah Food Bank, which is also governed by the Senior Board.
The Senior Club’s future goal is to open the hall during the day for Seniors who do not live in air-conditioned homes or just want a place to go and socialize or just enjoy activities.
The costs to become a member of the Senior Citizens of Chewelah Valley is only $5 per year for any person at least 50 years old. Any person over 21 but less than 50 years old may join as a supporting member when meeting additional membership qualifications. They will have the same rights and privileges as a regular member.
