A head-on collision on Flowery Trail road last Tuesday resulted in a fatality for driver Amber K. Kennedy, according to the Stevens County Sheriff’s Department. Kennedy was driving east on Flowery Trail Road in a 1999 Toyota RAV 4 when she collided with a Dodge pick-up at approximately 4 p.m. on Sept. 27.
The driver of the Dodge pick-up told Sheriff’s Deputies that he was heading home from work when he came around a corner and Kennedy’s vehicle was in his lane. The driver said he slowed down and moved to the right to avoid collision, but Kennedy’s vehicle did not slow and waited “until the last second” to return to her lane.
After being removed from her vehicle by emergency crews, Kennedy was pronounced deceased at 5:23 p.m. The cause of the accident has not been determined by officials at this time. According to Kennedy’s Facebook profile, she went to Riverside High School and is from Loon Lake. She was living in Chewelah.
