The City of Chewelah has applied to rezone a parcel of land in the northwest area of Chewelah that is currently reserved for a park and the public has until November 24 to comment.
The proposal would amend the comprehensive land use map and change the zoning of the 4.9 acre parcel on Tamarack Lane, formally known as parcel number 0256490 and commonly known as Peye Creek Park, from Community Facilities (C-F) to Single Family Residential (R-1). The environmental checklist completed by the city indicates that the parcel would be divided into three individual lots. The parcel was originally reserved as future park space by the Pinebrook Estates developers in 1992.
The application file for proposal RZ-01-2016 and CP-01-2016 can be examined at City Hall, 301 E. Clay, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday (except holidays). Comments must be received by November 24, 2016.
