THE FORCE AWAKENS: Chewelah’s Got Talent returns after hiatus…
After a brief hiatus, KCHW’s “Chewelah’s Got Talent” has returned and this time they’re bringing Jedi.
Being held on May 4 at 6 p.m., the widely known Star Wars holiday, the show will have a distinct Star Wars theme. There will be a Star Wars costume contest during the event along with the main event.
There will be 13 contestants this year and while their acts will have nothing to do with Star Wars, they could be out of this world. There will be some returners from previous years events as well as some new faces. Bill Barners will be this year’s host, and the event is in the Chewelah Center for the Arts for the first time ever.
“We’re totally thrilled we get to do it in Chewelah’s new theatre and we’re hoping for the biggest crowd ever for the event,” KCHW director Scott Allen said.
The event will be giving out $1,200 in cash prizes, including $600 to the winner of the event, $400 for second place and $200 for third place along with a $50 honorable mention.
People will also be able to elect a People’s Choice Award. There will be hats set out for each of the contestants, and people can put money in the hat of the person they think is best. The act with the most money at the end of the night will get up to $200 if its in the house, while the rest of the money will be used to help operate KCHW. You can listen to the event on the radio, watch on KCHW’s YouTube Channel or go to KCHW.org.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. at the event.
