Well if you’re reading this, chances are you might have some affinity for the small town atmosphere and the outdoor opportunities Chewelah provides. Now you can show it.
The Chewelah Chamber of Commerce is offering the Simply Chewelah Photo Contest, which will award fun prizes to aspiring photographers who win.
“We want people to have a way to show their pride of Chewelah,” Chewelah Chamber of Commerce volunteer Joan Thompson said.
People can enter by “hashtagging” their photos with #simplychewelah and #chewelahphotocontest which will then be seen by the Simply Chewelah Facebook page. The Simply Chewelah hashtag has been around for a year to promote local businesses, organizations, arts and outdoor activities to draw people in.
“We’re looking for what you love about Chewelah,” Thompson said. “It can be photos of people enjoying activities, showing the charm of Main Street, the beauty of our country views or the appeal of our small town culture. Whatever photo catches what you feel is the personality of Chewelah.”
Starting Thursday, Aug. 18, the contest will span three weeks with volunteer judges looking at the entries and then announcing the winners at the Sept. 9 Chewelah Chamber of Commerce meeting at the Chewelah Casino at 7 a.m.
Those looking for more examples can go to the “Simply Chewelah” Facebook group. For more info, you can message the Simply Chewelah Facebook page or the Chewelah Chamber of Commerce Facebook Page.
