Chewelah Mayor Dorothy Knauss has declared the period of Oct. 1 through December 31 as “Shop Local, Shop Small” while saluting the citizens of Chewelah and locally owned businesses. Knauss is encouraging people to shop at locally-owned businesses to help support the economic vitality of the area while COVID-19 restrictions are still in place.
“Chewelah’s core of independently-owned businesses give back to this community in goods, services, time and talent,” Knauss said, after saying that individual decisions every day made my community members affect the future of Chewelah’s economy.
Knauss released this proclamation on Monday, Oct. 5. Here is the full text…
WHEREAS, Chewelah Chamber of Commerce seeks to bring the local community together to support economic vitality during the limitations imposed by COVID-19, and
WHEREAS, the individual decisions every community member makes today affect the future of our economy, and
WHEREAS, Chewelah’s local independent businesses help preserve the uniqueness of the community and give us a sense of place; and
WHEREAS, Chewelah’s core of independently-owned businesses give back to this community in goods, services, time and talent; and
WHEREAS, the health of Chewelah’s economy depends on our support of businesses owned by our friends and neighbors; and
WHEREAS, Chewelah’s independent business owners and employees enrich community members’ shopping experiences with their knowledge and passion;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Dorothy L Knauss, Mayor of the City of Chewelah,
do hereby proclaim:
The period of October 1 through December 31, 2020 as
“Shop Local, Shop Small”
AND salute our citizens and locally owned businesses who are integral to the unique flavor of Chewelah, and honor their efforts to make Chewelah the place we want to live, work and shop.
