Driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol was listed by the WSP as the cause of a vehicular homicide Sunday evening shortly before midnight.
The Washington State Patrol reported that Amber R. Fast, 27, of Spokane was about a mile south of Chewelah driving southbound on SR 395 in a 2004 silver GMC Yukon when she struck a bicyclist who was also traveling southbound.
According to the report, Chewelah resident Jason M. Chamber, 30, died at the scene of the accident. He was cycling southbound when Fast apparently struck and killed him from behind. Chambers was not wearing a helmet.
