Maggie Beyer offering gentle and important grooming for your doggies…
Is your pet having a bad hair day?
There’s a new shop in town and its ready to make your pets look glamorous, healthy and chic.
Canine Clips offers efficient, affordable, convenient and friendly service for all breeds. Owner Maggie Beyer and her sister moved to Chewelah from the western part of the state in August. She has owned a storefront and mobile salon since 2006.
Beyer has groomed in Las Vegas; Baltimore, where she earned her General Grooming and Terrier Group Certifications; and all over Washington state. She has been grooming pets since she was a kid when the family had a fox terrier that needed its mane tended.
“I was 12 and then I learned I enjoyed it and you could make a little money with it,” Beyer said.
Beyer did pet grooming as a part time job during college, and now does just dogs. She’s unique in that she just charges by the hour instead of dog breed or shape – so people get what they pay for.
“I work by appointment from six in the morning to eight at night,” Beyer said. “My grooming is calm and gentle, we don’t keep the dogs all day because I don’t want to kennel or leash them.”
Most appointments take less than an hour so dog owners can run errands and pick their pet back up.
Animal grooming can be a first line of defense for health, as groomers can come across skin issues, ticks and fleas. Skin issues can be indicative of other health issues.
Beyer also does bathing and converted the business space that used to be Heather’s Custom Cakes into a doggie salon. She will not do mobile anymore but is flexible with appointments. She’s still working on the store hours and will have a grand opening on Sept. 1.
“I will be here when people want me to be here,” Beyer said.
