Cougars score four runs in the seventh, fall short…
A rally by the Chewelah Cougars (5-1) came up short Saturday in Deer Park. The Cougars plated four runs against their NEA League foe in the seventh inning but fell 7-6 for their first league loss of the year.
Deer Park led 7-2 leading into the bottom of the seventh. Carter Countryman pitched six innings for the Stags, while Chewelah used Dominick Coleman, Gavin Parrott and Elan Krausz on the mound.
Coleman went four innings, striking out four, walking six and allowing three earned runs. Parrott came in for two innings and allowed one earned run while walking four. Elan Krausz pitched the seventh, striking out two. Deer Park had just three hits in the game.
Three of Deer Park’s runs were unearned and the Cougars committed three errors.
At the plate, Coleman had a double and an RBI, while Ryder Robison also drove in a run. Krausz also had a double. Chewelah dropped to 3-1 in league play while Deer Park improved to 3-2)
