Robison pitches gem as Cougars keep pace just below Freeman in standings…
Ryder Robison pitched six excellent innings in a 5-0 NEA League shutout of Lakeside on Tuesday after a thunderstorm delay pushed the game’s finish past sunset. Robison lowered his ERA to 2.00 on the season, allowing just two hits, striking out eight and walking two. The senior pitcher is now 4-0 when on the bump this season.
With Lakeside handcuffed at the plate, Chewelah added a run in the first inning, the third inning and the fourth inning. In the sixth inning, the Cougars plated two more runs to seal the deal.
Elan Krausz closed out the game in the seventh inning on the mound and also picked up two hits, an RBI and a double at the plate. Krausz is now hitting .500 on the season, with 13 RBI.
Gavin Parrott scored two runs and notched a hit, while Jensen Holloway and Zak Kubik also singled. Kubik is batting .381 so far this year while Parrott is hitting .464. Holloway had two RBI in the game.
Carl Oman, Parrott and Holloway each stole a base against Lakeside pitching.
The win helps keep Chewelah in second place at 4-1 and a game behind Freeman (5-0) in the NEA League standings. They are 7-3 overall. Max Preps has Chewelah ranked as the No. 71 team in the state, and according to washingtonbaseballpoll.com, the Cougars are the No. 6 1A team in the state.
