Wilbur-Creston wins first game of year, downs Springdale
Wilbur-Creston gained 263 yards on the ground and defeated Springdale 36-7 Friday on the Chargers’ home field.
Aaron McDowell ran for two touchdowns to lead Wilbur-Creston, which scored 12 points in the first quarter and 16 points in the third quarter.
Springdale got its lone touchdown in the second quarter, a three-yard touchdown run by Avery Kitt.
It was Wilbur-Creston’s first win of the year.
Entiat takes out Wellpinit
The Redskins played a tight 1B 8-man football matchup against Entiat on Friday but fell 32-22.
Hunters falls to Cusick, 30-0
The Lions were blanked for just the second time this season and had their three-game winning streak come to an end, falling to Cusick last Friday 30-0.
The Lions trailed by just 12-0 at halftime in a defensive 1B 8-man football game. They couldn’t, however, keep things contained in the air.
Cusick’s Jed Cupp passed for 191 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Dylan Hendershott had five catches for 186 yards and three touchdowns.
Cusick’s first three touchdowns came through the air.
It was the first loss for Hunters since a 48-0 season opening loss to 1B defending state champion Almira/Coulee-Hartline. Since then, the Lions had outscored Entiat, St. John-Endicott and Selkirk by a combined score of 198-52 before this loss to Cusick.
The loss gums up the Northeast 1B North Standings.
Inchelium and Republic each have 2-0 league records, while Columbia and Cusick are in second with 1-1 league marks.
Inchelium rolls over Northport 90-14
The Hornets were swarming on Friday, downing winless Northport 90-14 in Northeast 1B North action, to improve to 5-1 on the season.
Waylon Lelone led Inchelium with five touchdowns while Winston Finley rushed for two more touchdowns and caught a scoring pass.
Quarterback Jaden Erickson threw a 14-yard touchdown pass and a 30-yard scoring pass. McKennon Andrews also returned two interceptions for a touchdown and caught a pass for a score.
Northport got two touchdown passes from Kade Middlesworth and touchdown pass receptions from Aiden Middlesworth and Tanner Malcolm.
The win kept Inchelium in first place of the Northwest 1B North Division standings. While Republic has a 2-0 league, they have a 3-3 overall record.
The Hornets, on the other hand, have won four straight and outscored their opponents 253-52.
