Thank you to the 6,977 people in Stevens County who voted for the freedom to marry by helping approve Referendum 74 on November 6, 2012. Our thanks to the 1,659,915 people across our state who made it possible for individual dreams for a family to come true. For parents, it means we know our children can be blessed with the same rights we enjoy, and that they will honor the values we taught them of the importance of home, marriage and family. For couples waiting for years to declare their love and hopes for the future, we will share their joy. For young people who have been promised their lives will get better, the freedom to marry has made a real difference.
Northeast Washington PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) was formed recently in our county to offer support, education and advocacy for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered (GLBT) individuals, their families and friends. This group wants to see Stevens County as a welcoming and safe place and we hope NEWA PFLAG can be a group that plays an active and vital role. Communities who welcome diversity thrive and this is not only true for our county, but it is true for our state.
Our devotion to freedom and equality for all people will not waiver. Join us at our monthly meetings on the last Tuesday of each month at Mt Carmel Health Ed Center at 6:30 p.m. You may also contact us confidentially at firstname.lastname@example.org or 509-685-0448.
Our wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Northeast Washington PFLAG Board Members,
