I have been reading the weekly comments regarding the two candidates for County Commissioner District 1. As someone who manages two departments in a local hospital, works with local public safety entities, and commanded a military unit, I have seen many leadership styles, along with the successes and failures of each one. The narrower the focus gets, the more the leader fails in their job.
In the last several weeks, there have been many letters about the candidates from the public. In those letters, I have seen a clear trend that resonates with each one.
Wes McCart has been in the area for quite some time. Wes has had a clear dedication to the farming community, focusing on the water issues that plague them. During a discussion on my door step, Wes talked of the water issues and his successes regarding protecting the farmer’s needs. There was little said of the needs of the rest of the community.
Mark Beck has a broader view, and more diverse thoughts about running a county. While farming is certainly important to him, Mark appears to understand the needs of the community as a whole and the balancing act that is involved with prioritization of services and funds. Mark is not a politician that is tied to special groups or personal agendas. Clearly, Mark has a heart for service, and will support the county as a whole with equal enthusiasm and dedication to duty. I support and recommend MARK BECK for County Commissioner District 1.
