2B VOLLEYBALL: Chewelah falls to Davenport

The Lady Cougars lost to the Davenport in three straight sets to drop to 1-1 in NE 2B volleyball play on Thursday. Chewelah trailed 19-7 through the first half of the opening set and were able to close the gap to 25-17. The Lady Cougs then dropped the next two sets, 25-7 and 25-12. Davenport picked up its first volleyball win of the season.

It was Davenport’s first victory over Chewelah since the two teams began playing twice a year in league play in 2018.

Haley Greenwood and Kylee Buchanan led a balanced Davenport attack with eight and six kills respectively. Allison Jorden set up her teammates with 21 assists, while Lola Phillips had four aces and two blocks.




Mia Bellevue led the Chewelah squad with nine assists. Laynie Haskell had three kills.

Chewelah will play at Liberty at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2.
