Springdale off to strong start to 2019 season…
Springdale played a slough of matches at the Gorilla Classic Tournament in Davenport, taking down all four opponents on the day while only dropping one set.
The Chargers (4-0) got their winning mojo going early with a 2-0 win over Reardan, 25-23 and 25-22. Two hours later the squad took on host Davenport, taking the two sets over the Gorillas (1-3) 25-14 and 25-12 for win number two on the day.
After another quick turnaround, Springdale squared off with Medical Lake, beating the Cardinals 2-0 with 25-16 and 25-22 set wins.
In their final match of the day against the Odessa Tigers, Springdale took the first set 25-19 before dropping their first set of the day 24-26. The Mustangs rebounded nicely, taking the third and final set 15-8 to take the match 2-1.
Springdale will get a few days off before getting back on the court when they take to the road to face off with St. George’s Sept. 10 beginning at 6:30 p.m.
