“Chewelah’s Got Talent” Oh, yes we do!
After weeks of preparation and 2 rounds of auditions, “Chewelah’s Got Talent” will hit the stage this Saturday night at the Civic Center. Twenty-two finalists will compete before a live audience, as well as our panel of impersonated celebrity judges. The entire show will be broadcast live on KCHW 102.7, as well as web-cast live and in real-time also for those who can not make it to the live show. (http://www.kchw.org/)
The evenings line up is an exciting and varied mix of talent, including dancers, vocalists, instrumentalists and variety performers such as a ventriloquist/comedy act and some magic too! Event producer, Schelley Schlafman said, “I am blown away by the talent that came out to audition. We have so many acts from performers that have never been seen in Chewelah before. I always knew we had alot of talent here, but WOW! I also have to mention our very talented “celebrity” judges panel – they are a riot. The audience is gonna love them! I truly can’t wait for the show.”
In a sneak-peek, Schelley Schlafman told The Independent a bit more about the judges panel. “We’ll have Clint Kirry playing Simon Towel, Donjrai Dixon as Sticky Minaj, Rob Floyd as David Hassle-scoff, Lori Londagin playing Mariah Scary, and Bill Barnes as Steven Tie-Dye-ler. It was so funny to watch them interacting with the auditioners in character. The performers didn’t quite know what to make of them!”
At the event, audience members, both live and online will be able to vote for their favorite contestant by pledging dollar amounts to KCHW. Online audience members will be able to call in their pledges. Each dollar counts as one vote. The audience’s votes, along with the judges scores will determine the winners! This fundraiser’s proceeds go directly to raising the BIG antenna to increase KCHW’s coverage!
It’s been a bit tricky to coordinate everything that will be going on during this event. It’s sort of a play within a talent show within a telethon. We’ll have people running the radio boards at the station, people running the web cameras, people manning the phone lines, the light and sound crews, the stage crews, the vote counting committee, the kitchen crew, the judges, the performers the sponsors and more! It’s a huge production, but it’s worth it to bring not only a new type of event to Chewelah, but to showcase all the amazing performers.” Schlafman said.
