Sophomore Audrey Wellhausen slammed nine kills down for the Springdale Lady Chargers against Harrington as the south county volleyball team improved to 3-1 on the season. Playing a doubleheader on Saturday at home, the Lady Chargers dropped their first matchup against powerhouse Odessa, but bounced back with a three-set win over Harrington.
Springdale swept Harrington by scores of 25-3, 25-8, 25-8 while getting 20 assists and seven aces from Macey Gines.
“The standout players for us on Saturday were probably Macey and Audrey,” Springdale head volleyball coach Matt Gines said. “Both played well.”
Kristen Erickson also added six digs to the Lady Chargers’ efforts.
Against Odessa, the Chargers fell in three sets, 21-25, 11-25, 20-25 despite a standout performance from Wellhausen. She notched seven kills against the Tigers while also collecting nine digs.
