Wellpinit downed at districts
Wellpinit hit the court Tuesday for a first round matchup against the second-seeded Cusick Panthers in the District 7 1B tournament taking a close game to the third before falling 75-61.
The Redskins, playing as the third seed, fell behind in the first but closed the gap to just one point by halftime. Cusick made it a two point game after three, and that was as close as Wellpinit would get. The Panthers put together a complete fourth quarter to outscore Wellpinit by 12 and put the game away for the win.
Kobe Stearns was the games high scorer, getting 20 on the night for Wellpinit. Smokey Abrahamson added 12 and Steven Ford Jr. had 11 to help lead the Redskins despite the loss.
Wellpinit will have another go Feb. 15 when they face Republic in a loser-out game.
